When you hire from us, you shouldn’t have to worry about the “what ifs.” That’s why we offer Hire Shield – a straightforward protection plan that gives you peace of mind from unexpected costs if accidental damage happens.

Hire Shield – Simple, hassle-free protection

  • Covers accidental damage up to £500 per item 
  • No claims or recovery actions from National Tool Hire up to £500 
  • No excess charges – just simple, stress-free protection

Hire Shield Premium – Extra protection 

For powered access, plant, or other high-value equipment, Hire Shield Premium extends coverage by ensuring our insurers cannot pursue you for accidental damage costs – keeping it between you and National Tool Hire. 

  • Covers accidental damage up to £500 per item 
  • Protects you from our insurers: Our insurers waive their right to claim from you for accidental damage. 
  • Extra protection for high-value equipment: If something happens, youre covered. 

Important: Hire Shield & Hire Shield Premium only cover accidental damage. They do not cover loss, theft, misuse, or negligence. 

Hire Shield FAQs 

1. What’s the difference between Hire Shield and Hire Shield Premium? 

Hire Shield covers accidental damage up to £500. Hire Shield Premium covers accidental damage up to £500 and ensures our insurers cannot claim against you. 

2. Does Hire Shield cover theft or loss? 

No. Hire Shield & Hire Shield Premium only cover accidental damage. If your equipment is lost or stolen, you will be responsible for the replacement costs. 

3. Is Hire Shield an insurance policy? 

No, Hire Shield & Hire Shield Premium are a waiver of rights, not an insurance product. It ensures that if you accidentally damage equipment, National Tool Hire and its insurers won’t pursue you for repair costs within the coverage limit. 

4. Can I refuse Hire Shield or Hire Shield Premium? 

Hire Shield is optional at the time of booking. However, for high-value equipment where Hire Shield Premium is required, you’ll need to provide proof of your own insurance to opt out. 

5. What happens if my damage costs exceed the coverage limit? 

Any costs over your limit (£500) will remain your responsibility.
