So, you can pop materials into the hopper, and the mechanism will pull it all through. These blades need to remain sharp to work properly. If you insert muddy wood through the feeder, you can blunt the blade edges. You should also avoid putting other materials through, like roots, potted plants, bricks, stones, or metal.

Please note: These heavy duty garden shredders are for chipping dry branches up to 3" (75mm) in diameter. You cannot use them to chip branches less than 5mm in diameter. You should trim twisted and awkward branches before you chip them. This will prevent dangerous thrashing in the feed funnel. You should not put wet branches, greenery, and brambles through the chipper. They can lead to jamming. You should never feed conifers and leylandii into this machine.
